As the rapid development of technology, robots nowadays have many different types. Nevertheless, there are still some basic similarities between different types of robots. First, Robots all have some kind of mechanical construction, a frame, form or shape designed to achieve a particular task. For example, a robot designed to travel across heavy dirt or mud, might use caterpillar tracks. The mechanical aspect is mostly the creator's solution to completing the assigned task and dealing with the physics of the environment around it. What's more, robots all have electric components which could control and power their machinery. The electrical aspect of robots is used for movement (through motors), sensing (where electrical signals are used to measure things like heat, sound, position, and energy status) and operations. Finally, which is an important point, all robots contain some levels of computer programming code. A program is how a robot decides when or how to do something. There are three different types of robotic programs: remote control, artificial intelligence and hybrid. Each has their own way to control a robot.
The application of robotics is various. The main current or potential applications include Military, Caterpillar plans, Robot combat for sports, Agricultural, Medical and Science...The widely use of Robotics shows that the high-computing technology has begun to lead the scientific realm nowadays.
The argument about whether Robotics will danger human-beings has never stopped. Many people are afraid of these artificial intelligence will create their own ideas and danger ourselves one day. In this case, scientists never stop the steps to find out a good way to complete human-robot interaction with controlling in our hands. If this can be done, then robots can be a great helper in our future. Science fiction authors also typically assume that robots will eventually be capable of communicating with humans through speech, gestures, and facial expressions, rather than a command-line interface. Although speech would be the most natural way for the human to communicate, it is unnatural for the robot. It will probably be a long time before robots interact as naturally as the fictional C-3PO, or Data of Star Trek.

I really like your article about robots! I think the last part is the most interesting because nowadays robots are playing a more important role in our life. And it is natural for people to think like what if the robots have their own thoughts and we may lose control of them. I think this is a great topic for computer scientists and engineers to think about in the future.
ReplyDeleteI don't really think that robots will have their own thoughts and do something bad to human beings for their own benefit. They don't want to dominate the world because people make them and design them to do what they are supposed to do. It is possible that robots will lose control, but it is impossible for them to have their own thoughts as human beings.
